As a long-time event planner, advertising and promotions specialist, Helen Schwartz started Galaxy of Stars after hearing from friends in the dance community about the trials and tribulations of their competition experiences – poorly planned events, schedules that always ran late and well in to the early morning hours, and a lack of meaningful awards and constructive feedback from the judges. After years of being told that she should start a dance competition, Helen finally did.
Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships was founded on the principals of fairness and impartiality, reward and recognition, and most importantly, FUN!
From the quality of the venues we use to the qualified and professional adjudicators we hire, each event is planned with the highest attention to detail. We take the necessary time to put together a schedule that ensures our youngest competitors are finished competing at a reasonable time and that all of our events end at a reasonable hour.
Our trophies, pins, medals, key chains and ribbons are all custom-made and we take pride in presenting these and an impressive number of cash overall awards at every one of our locations.
We know that participating in a dance competition requires tremendous determination, courage and commitment. That’s why each and every dancer at Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships is recognized for their efforts regardless of how they score.
Adjudicator’s comments are recorded on DVD. Every routine receives a DVD that provides teachers and students the opportunity to listen to the judges’ valuable comments and feedback while viewing their actual performance.
In 2011 Helen passed away after a long battle with lung disease. Today, Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships is run by her son Perry and his family. Perry brings more than 10 years of corporate event planning and marketing experience to the business. Galaxy of Stars will continue to operate with the same commitment to providing dancers with an opportunity to display their talents in a fun, healthy and exciting environment that builds character, confidence and self-esteem.
