Awards
Introduction
Each and every dancer at Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships is recognized for their efforts regardless of how they score. Our trophies, pins, medals, key chains and ribbons are all custom-made and we take pride in presenting these and an impressive number of cash overall awards at every one of our locations – there is no need to attend a final when you compete at Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships.
Novice, Basic Competitive & Competitive
SOLO, DUET/TRIO: A medallion will be awarded to each individual dancer in the Solo, Duet/Trio routine that receives the highest mark of 85 or over for first place, the highest mark of 80 or over for second place, and the highest mark of 75 or over for third place in their dance category, classification, entry and age division.
GROUPS, LINES AND PRODUCTIONS: Each individual dancer who is in a group, line or production routine that receives the highest mark of 85 or over for first place, the highest mark of 80 or over for second place, and the highest mark of 75 or over for third place in their dance category, classification, entry and age division will receive an award based on their mark.
** IF THERE IS ONLY ONE COMPETITOR IN A CATEGORY, GALAXY OF STARS WILL STILL AWARD A FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD PLACE PLACEMENT AS LONG AS THE COMPETITOR RECEIVES AN AVERAGE SCORE OF 85 OR OVER FOR FIRST PLACE, 80 – 84 FOR SECOND PLACE, AND 75-79 FOR THIRD PLACE.
**ALL COMPETITORS THAT DO NOT PLACE FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD IN THEIR CATEGORY WILL RECEIVE AN AWARD BASED ON THEIR MARK!
ADJUDICATOR’S SPECIAL AWARDS
The Special Awards Judge will also present an Adjudicator’s Choice Choreography Award at EACH adjudication.
OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHY AWARDS (Judges Choice):
$100.00 presented to Mini, Junior, Intermediate and Senior age divisions (presented to the choreographer/teacher).
SUPERNOVA AWARD
We will award three specially designed Galaxy of Stars “SuperNova” Awards at each location – one for Mini/Junior, Intermediate and Senior age divisions. The Galaxy of Stars “SuperNova” Awards will be awarded to the highest scoring Mini/Junior, Intermediate and Senior group, line or production mark from the competition. Winners of each SuperNova Award will receive a custom-designed trophy and $500.00.
NOTE: In the event of a tie for an overall or SuperNova award, Judges will be asked to break the tie. Winners must be present to accept their awards, or have someone designated to pick-up their awards. Galaxy of Stars will not assume the cost of shipping awards. All cash awards are awarded to the dance director/studio at our overall ceremonies and are subject to change in the event that less than 600 routines are entered in the competition. There must be a minimum of four entries in a division for an Overall Award to be awarded. The age divisions with overall awards maybe combined, depending on entries. Only routines who compete in the Competitive Classification are eligible to win the SuperNova Awards. Novice and Basic Competitive routines are not eligible to win SuperNova awards.
STAR OF STARS AWARD
Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships Inc. will award one Star of Stars award for the 2012 competition season. Three dancers from each location will be selected by the adjudicators as their MVD – Most Valuable Dancers – of the competition. These selections are not made based on scores or a specific performance, rather selections will be made based on the dancer’s overall abilities, performance style, personality on stage and spirit.
Dancers selected will receive a special award, a gift card and the chance to compete for the 2012 Star of Stars award.
Dancers selected at each location will be featured on our website and visitors to the site will be encouraged to vote for the Galaxy of Stars 2012 Star of Stars. The dancer who receives the largest percentage of votes will be awarded the title for 2012. Voting will begin after our final location is complete . The winning dancer’s studio will be notified thereafter and the winner will be featured on our website, in our marketing materials and receive a fabulous dancer’s prize pack.
GALAXY CUP - NEW FOR 2012
In 2012 Galaxy of Stars Dance Championships will award the first Galaxy Cup. The top-10 scoring Group/Line/Productions from our entire season will be featured on our website and visitors to the site will be encouraged to vote for the Galaxy Cup. The dancer who receives the largest percentage of votes will be awarded the title for 2012. Voting will begin after our final location is complete. The winning routine’s studio will be notified thereafter and the winner will be featured on our website, in our marketing materials and receive a $1,000 cash award and get to keep the Galaxy Cup until the end of 2012.
NOVICE OVERALL AWARDS
One cash award will be presented to the highest mark overall in the following Divisions:
- Highest Mark Overall Novice Solo
- Highest Mark Overall Novice Duet/Trio
- Highest Mark Overall Novice Group/Line
OVERALL AWARDS: COMPETITIVE CLASSIFICATION
Cash Awards will be presented to the Competitive Classification Solo with the highest overall mark in the following individual age divisions:
8 & Under • 9 Years • 10 Years • 11 Years • 12 Years • 13 Years • 14 Years • 15 Years • 16 Years • 17 Years • 18 Years & Older
Cash Awards will be presented to the Highest Overall Mark, the 2nd Highest Overall Mark and the 3rd Highest Overall Mark in Duet/Trio, Group and Line Divisions in the Competitive Classification in the following four age divisions:
Mini (8 years & under) • Junior (9,10,11 years of age) • Intermediate (12,13,14 years of age) • Senior (15 years & Older)
One cash Highest Mark Overall Award will be presented to the Competitive Classification routine with the highest mark overall in the following dance categories:
• Ballet/Pointe/Demi • Acro • Street Style/Hip Hop • Musical Theatre/Stage • Modern/Contemporary
OVERALL AWARDS: BASIC COMPETITIVE CLASSIFICATION
Cash awards will be presented to the Highest Mark Overall Winners in Solo, Duet/Trio, Group/Line Divisions in the Basic Competitive Classification in the following two age divisions.
Junior (12 years and under) • Senior (13 years and Older)
IN ADDITION: Each individual dancer in a routine that wins an Overall award will receive an award.
